'rae tries to be helpful!

sorry to the maybe four people who've been waiting for this for such a long time, but i've just been really busy lately...

i realize this is not a real tutorial *per se,* but i still think it would be useful. if i ever have time, i'll make something like this for every major body part. once i've done that, i could perhaps combine them and call it a tutorial, huh?

to that end, here is a link to the complete skeleton:

Yay, yet another random how-to-draw dragons thingy.

With every ending comes a new beginning...

That's good work there, I like it.
The way you've drawn it makes the anatomy of a dragon forelimb appear all the probbable.

see, the trick to making it look probable is just to take the bones of a real creature and stretch them into the shape you want. the muscles still connect to the same bones in the same places, they just become a slightly different shape. my dragons are usually a mix between hunting cats and several different kinds of dinosaurs.

:iconkielrae:
actually, it's not *that* random. people have been asking me to make things like this.

yeah, I kinda noticed the dinosaur thing as I was (and still am in a way) a dinosaur buff. That method you use though works as you can see.

hoorah! yeah, dinosaurs provide a pretty good analogue for semireptilian creatures, both big and small. i like the skeletal structures of hunting raptors the best because they are both powerful and agile. howevr, they walk on two legs and i prefer dragons that walk on all fours for some reason. that is why i blend cats into my designs.

oh okay. I use raptors as a basis for alot of my bipedal dragons and wyverns. For normal dragons I usually just have them based partially on mammal-like reptiles but mainly its all from the imagination.

heh. the role of imagination in the process cannot be overemphasized!

It certainly can't
